Abstract
Description
Skin aging is a complex process that affects the structure and proper functioning of the skin. The objective of this systematic review was to analyze the use of exosomes and their combination with nanotechnology as a biostimulation strategy for skin rejuvenation. Studies published between 2024 and 2026 were consulted in databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Science, applying the PRISMA methodology and the PICO strategy. Publications that met the CASP quality criteria were selected. The results indicate that exosomes act as intercellular messengers that stimulate collagen and elastin, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, and improve the skin barrier. Its efficacy is enhanced when combined with exosomes and nanotechnology, achieving improvements ranging from 28% in collagen and wrinkle reduction to 32%. A favorable safety profile with mild and transient adverse effects has been confirmed. It is concluded that these biotechnological advances represent a fairly safe and effective alternative for regenerative aesthetics, although challenges of standardization and regulation remain.
