| dc.description | The skin microbiome constitutes a complex ecosystem of microorganisms that plays a fundamental role in maintaining skin homeostasis, participating in functions related to immune protection, skin barrier integrity, and the regulation of inflammatory processes. In recent years, the study of skin microbiome dysbiosis has gained significant relevance in the dermo-aesthetic field due to its potential influence on the absorption of active ingredients and the therapeutic outcomes achieved through various aesthetic procedures. The aim of this article is to analyze the impact of skin microbiome dysbiosis on the bioavailability of substances used in dermo-aesthetic treatments and on the therapeutic response to these interventions. To achieve this, a descriptive, documentary, and qualitative research approach was employed, based on a review of scientific literature published between 2020 and 2025. Information was collected from specialized academic databases, including PubMed, SciELO, Redalyc, Dialnet, and Google Scholar. The findings indicate that alterations in the composition and diversity of the microbiome can modify skin barrier function, affect the absorption of active ingredients, and influence the physiological response to various aesthetic treatments. Furthermore, an equilibrated microbiome was found to promote skin regeneration, reduce inflammatory processes, and contribute to optimizing the clinical outcomes of procedures such as chemical peels, microneedling, regenerative therapies, and cosmeceutical treatments. It is concluded that the condition of the skin microbiome is a determining factor in the effectiveness of dermo-aesthetic interventions. Therefore, its assessment and preservation represent an innovative strategy for improving therapeutic outcomes, strengthening evidence-based professional practice, and promoting a comprehensive approach to skin care. | |
