| dc.description | Prenatal care is an essential strategy to protect maternal and fetal health, prevent complications, and promote a positive pregnancy experience. The objective of this article was to analyze, through a literature review, the contribution of nursing care to prenatal control. A descriptive review was carried out using scientific and normative sources published between 2016 and 2026, prioritizing clinical guidelines, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and qualitative studies related to antenatal care, health education, continuity of care, adherence, and person-centered care. Information was organized through narrative synthesis and thematic categories. Findings show that nursing care strengthens prenatal control through comprehensive assessment, health education, early identification of warning signs, psycho-emotional support, promotion of healthy habits, follow-up of attendance, and coordination with other levels of care. The literature highlights that nurse-led educational interventions improve maternal self-efficacy and that digital tools may increase attendance at prenatal visits, although they require contextual adaptation and professional support. It is concluded that nursing has a strategic role in the humanization, continuity, timeliness, and quality of prenatal care, especially among pregnant women with social vulnerability or access barriers. Strengthening protocols, records, individualized counseling, and community follow-up is recommended to improve maternal and perinatal outcomes. | |
