Abstract
El cáncer es la segunda causa de mortalidad en Ecuador y uno de los principales
inconvenientes es el diagnóstico y tratamiento tardío, a nivel mundial la incidencia de cáncer
de piel ha incrementado en las últimas décadas, por ello, los pacientes buscan tratamientos
alternativos que puedan mejorar su estado de vida. El matico (Piper aduncum L) es utilizado
por sus compuestos bioactivos presentes en las hojas cuyas propiedades son antinflamatorias,
antibacterianas, cicatrizantes, por lo que, elaborar un forma farmacéutica en gel sería una
buena alternativa complementaria para tratar la piel, además, el uso de terapias de energía
como el reiki en pacientes oncológicos ayuda aliviar los síntomas, a manejar la ansiedad y el
estrés provocando cambios significativos en la vida de los pacientes, es así como esta
investigación tuvo como objetivo aplicar un tratamiento alternativo a base de Reiki y un gel
de extractos de matico (Piper aduncum L) obteniendo resultados positivos para esta
patología.
Description
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Ecuador, and one of the main challenges is
late diagnosis and treatment. Globally, the incidence of skin cancer has increased in recent
decades, leading patients to seek alternative treatments that can improve their quality of life.
Matico (Piper aduncum L.) is used for its bioactive compounds present in its leaves, which
have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and healing properties. Therefore, developing a gel
formulation would be a good complementary alternative for treating the skin. Furthermore,
the use of energy therapies such as Reiki in cancer patients helps alleviate symptoms and
manage anxiety and stress, leading to significant changes in their lives. Thus, this research
aimed to apply an alternative treatment based on Reiki and a gel made from matico (Piper
aduncum L.) extracts, obtaining positive results for this pathology.
