Abstract
Description
Emotional well-being is an essential component of overall health, and interest in complementary therapies for managing stress and anxiety has increased in recent years. The aim of this study was to evaluate perceived emotional well-being and emotional regulation in individuals experiencing emotional stress and mild to moderate anxiety through the application of an aromatherapy blend complemented with Bach Flower Remedies, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) affirmations, and symbolic energy-balancing elements. A mixed-method, descriptive, and prospective study was conducted with 15 adults attending the Gaia Holistic Center in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The intervention lasted four consecutive weeks and consisted of the topical application of a blend containing rose, lavender, geranium, rosemary, peppermint, and eucalyptus essential oils diluted in fractionated coconut oil, together with the use of Bach Flower Remedies and positive affirmations. Data were collected through interviews, a naturopathic assessment form, and follow-up records. Participants reported improvements in perceived stress and anxiety, enhanced sleep quality, increased feelings of calmness, and greater ease in expressing emotions following the intervention. These findings suggest that the naturopathic protocol was associated with a favorable perception of emotional well-being among the participants. However, because the study involved a small sample and relied primarily on subjective self-reported outcomes, the results should be interpreted with caution. Further research using larger samples, control groups, and more rigorous methodological designs is recommended to strengthen the scientific evidence regarding the role of aromatherapy and complementary therapies in supporting emotional well-being.
