Abstract
Description
Skin laxity appears in people when firmness and elasticity begin to be progressively lost. This happens for different reasons, whether due to the natural aging process of human beings or because of other factors that slow down the production of collagen and elastin. Nowadays, it can be said that radiofrequency is one of the best non-invasive options and one of the most widely used to combat this problem. Therefore, the objective of this presented study was to evaluate how effective radiofrequency really is as an aesthetic treatment by reviewing and taking into account the different scientific evidence from various studies and the results obtained in them. To achieve this, a descriptive and qualitative literature review was carried out. First, publications were searched on platforms such as Google Scholar and PubMed, accepting information published in Spanish, English, and Portuguese between 2009 and 2025. Subsequently, the information was organized and analyzed through a qualitative synthesis, all with the purpose of comparing aspects such as, for example, how radiofrequency works, what effects it produces, and how good its clinical response is. The results showed that this treatment does stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. It thus helps remodel the structure of the skin, significantly improving its firmness, elasticity, and overall appearance. Furthermore, the data confirm that it is a safe method, provided that it is performed by a qualified professional and according to the correct protocols.
